Grace Coddington has a career that I could only dream of. As creative director at US Vogue, not only is she able to work alongside legendary editor Anna Wintour, she is also responsible for creating some of the most innovative, extravagant and eccentric fashion spreads all of which are beautifully put together.

Originally from Wales, her career began as the winner of Vogue’s Young Model of the Year competition when she was only 18. In 1961 she lost an eye lid in a horrific car accident but after reconstructive surgery, Grace returned to modelling two years later. In 1968 she stepped out of the modelling world and into editorial as she became junior fashion editor at British Vogue.

In 1986 Grace was able to move to New York where she became design director at Calvin Klein. However, in 1988 Grace left this position and began working at U.S Vogue – the very same day Anna Wintour was appointed Editor-in-Chief. Since then, Grace has become creative director (1995) at Vogue, where she still remains today.

In 2009, The September Issue was released. The documentary type film entailed the planning and organisation in the run up to the 2007 September Issue of US Vogue. Grace was featured throughout the film which saw her as one of the few people able to oppose Anna Wintour.
